Roof Turbine Not Spinning

Our turbine roof vents whirlybirds were really noisy and had some rattling that was causing some vibration in the house.

The turbine spins freely when i turn it by hand with very little effort no squeaks and no resistance. In addition pay attention to the maximum roof pitch that will work with the turbines. Step 3 clear any obstructions away from the turbines by pulling them free. 2 of my 3 turbine vents on my roof won t turn unless there s a stronger wind.

Not all turbines will fit all roof pitches. The turbines are adjustable so that the spinning part is level even though the roof is slanted. A turbine may fail to spin if the bearings become rusty or obstructions such as ice leaves or twigs have become wedged into the turbine. The turbine on the house next door is spinning as are a few others down the street but this one isn t.

Both houses are standard single story houses with gable roofs. Also barely using my finger of course they spin freely no noise etc. I installed a basic aluminum 12 roof turbine on the back side of a house yesterday but it s not spinning. Examine the turbine from the exterior from the roof.

If they spin freely but just sit there when on your roof i d say they aren t level. These will not rust.
